Thus far, the year 2015 has proven to be yet another successful and fruitful year, not only in the classroom but on the sporting field. As well documented, St Narsai Assyrian Christian College has demonstrated outstanding sporting excellence, especially in the sport of football. Sport is a compulsory and valued part of the curriculum at St Narsai Assyrian Christian College.
Our school sporting program provides a vehicle for a number of social, physical, emotional and moral learnings and is an important expression of our culture. In school sport the prime concern is to give all students the opportunity for participation, enjoyment and skill development. Our college has established a working relationship with the Western Sydney Wanderers (WSW) who undertook a soccer training session with students from our year 7 cohort.
This session was hosted by WSW coaches who both mentored and taught students new skills in football. This program not only focused on student development in soccer but also served as a tool to build confidence and improve social skills amongst our new students. The skills students developed has also given them the opportunity to participate in future football competitions such as the Western Sydney Wanderers Cup, Bill Turner Cup, Interschool competition and the Western Sydney Futsal Championships. At St Narsai Assyrian Christian College, we strive to provide sporting opportunities for students of all age groups. We encourage students to listen to the sport notices, to hear about the many events and opportunities that we provide for sport.
